Our annual celebration of everything avian will still be held on Saturday, May 9, as migration and Bird Month in Nebraska are not cancelled! But because of COVID19 and our center’s current closure, it will now be held on-line.
The day will start with a Facebook Live Bird Walk at 10:00 am led by Jason “the Birdnerd.” Join him and watch for about an hour as he walks through the prairie looking and listening for Nebraska prairie birds.
Then at 11:30 a.m., Larkin Powell, local author and professor at UNL’s School of Natural Resources, will discuss GREAT PLAINS BIRDS and his book of the same name. This ZOOM on-line event will be BYOP - Bring Your Own Picnic. To receive the ZOOM link, you must register ahead of time. Register now!
Finally, we’ll end the day with our family BIRD FEST from 1-2:00 p.m. Instead of outdoors on the prairie, we will bring activities, crafts, and videos to Facebook Live for an hour – something for everyone all about birds. We hope you’ll join us for one or all three of these ways to celebrate SUPER BIRD SATURDAY!
